Westmoreland is ideally suited to agriculture, located at the west end of the island, it is adjoined on the north by the parish of Hanover and on the East by St. Elizabeth and St. James. Around 5% of the parish, or 10,000-12,000 acres, make up a large freshwater wetland called the Great Morass. The Morass and much of the land around it is protected under the Negril Area Environmental Protection Trust. Three quarters of the remaining land consists of low hills well suited to pasture, the parish boasts lush vegetation and is maintained by the various rivers and streams that are present. Capital of the parish is Savanna-La-Mar where there exists a strong administrative, commercial, marketing and retail sector. The major towns and surroundings continue to expand and property demand is on the increase especially in the lower to middle income group
Home to major towns, Negril and Bluefield’s these beaches are well sought after tourist attractions with Negril having many chains of all-inclusive hotels and beautiful white sandy beaches. Other towns include Grange Hill, Seaford Town, and Bethel Town.
