Manchester is a mountainous parish and almost all of the parish is between 2000 and 3000 feet above sea level. The capital town is Mandeville known for exclusive high end homes around its city, the high elevation of the area causes the climate to be very cool and as such it is a favourite place for Jamaicans returning from abroad to live. Other major towns are Christiana, Devon, Mile Gully, Newport, Porus, Williamsfield.
Agriculture, bauxite mining and processing, small scale manufacturing and livestock rearing are some of the main economic activities in Manchester.
